Job Summary:
The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for procuring raw materials and MRO items, while also executing proactive supply planning to ensure material availability for all production lines. The role combines traditional purchasing responsibilities—such as supplier negotiation, PO management, and trends analysis—with forward-looking planning activities including inventory optimization, expediting, logistical coordination, and cross-functional communication. The Supply Chain Planner supports continuous improvement, mitigates supply risks, and ensures effective coordination between suppliers, production, logistics, quality, and other internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Procurement -
- Generate and analyze daily material requirement reports to support production.
- Create and manage purchase orders in IFS, validating pricing, lead times, and delivery dates.
- Expedite or de expedite raw materials based on changing production needs; communicate risks to Production.
- Coordinate and monitor raw material deliveries to maintain smooth flow through Shipping/Receiving.
- Manage blanket POs, stocking programs, and annual usage analysis for major parts.
- Identify and address supply risks, including shortages, delivery discrepancies, and credit hold issues.
- Source alternate suppliers and monitor market trends and supplier service levels.
- Negotiate pricing and meet with suppliers as required.
- Manage specialty programs (e.g., recycling, scrap recovery).
- Support Engineering, Quality, Production, and broader Supply Chain functions as needed, including acting on behalf of the Supply Chain Manager during absences.
- Review supplier capacity, lead time changes, and demand trends to support long term planning.
- Maintain critical communication with suppliers regarding shipments, in transit updates, labeling issues, and late deliveries.
Inventory -
- Maintain optimum level and mix of raw materials
- Maintain IFS Purchasing data, including pricing, minimum order quantity, lead time, safety stock, etc.
- Update data as required in IFS. Provide feedback to production personnel.
- Monitor excess and obsolete inventory. Generate reports. Support actions to be taken.
- Manage Off Site Supplier Stocking Program for raw material
- Monitor consumption trends for critical raw materials and provide early warning visibility to Production and Scheduling when projected depletion or abnormal usage patterns are identified.
- Contribute to improving inventory data integrity by recommending updates to safety stock levels, lead time parameters, and replenishment settings based on actual operational behavior.
Freight -
- Provide support for supply chain functions including shipping, receiving, material handling.
- Create customs documentation, arrange transportation.
- Audit & approval of invoices.
- Coordinate inbound logistics by following up with carriers and suppliers on pickup status, missed appointments, unexpected delays, and ensure updated ETAs are communicated to Receiving and Production.
- Escalate freight related risks—including transit delays, capacity issues, noncompliant shipments, or early/late arrivals—and implement contingency plans to protect production schedules.
- Communicate delivery requirements and handling expectations (e.g., labeling, packaging, special staging needs) to suppliers and carriers to prevent receiving delays or nonconformances
Continuous Improvement -
- Support & participate in continuous improvement projects for Connection Systems.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Sales to identify process gaps, supply risks, and efficiency opportunities that impact material flow or production readiness.
- Analyze trends in material usage, supplier performance, and lead time reliability to recommend improvements in planning, procurement workflows, and inventory management.
- Support development and refinement of standardized supply chain processes, including communication practices, shortage reporting, and supplier escalation methods.
Administrative -
- Generate reports in IFS and use data to prepare monthly Reports. Complete & follow up on NCR’s.
- Maintain clear and organized documentation for supplier communications, material escalations, delivery updates, and internal planning discussions to ensure traceability and alignment across departments.
- Prepare structured daily/weekly supply status summaries (e.g., shortages, expected arrivals, supplier delays) to support Production, Sales, and leadership decision making.
- Keep planning parameters, notes, and system updates current by documenting changes to lead times, supplier performance issues, or material constraints within internal systems and shared tracking tools.
HSE -
- Complies with Company HSE Policies and Procedures.
- Participates in the IIF Program.
Experience & Education:

3–5 years of experience in supply chain planning, purchasing, or a related role

University degree preferred (Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field)
