Summary
The Health & Safety (HSE) Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Mattr’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems. This position serves as a central point of coordination for HSE data, systems, and administrative processes, helping ensure regulatory compliance, accurate reporting, and consistent safety practices. By enabling strong systems, reliable data, and effective communication, this role directly contributes to building and sustaining a strong safety culture across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain HSE management systems (e.g., SharePoint, Velocity or equivalent) to ensure they are accurate, current, and aligned with operational needs
- Maintain complete and accurate HSE records, including incident reports, audits, inspections, corrective actions, and compliance documentation
- Generate and distribute regular HSE reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support leadership decision-making
- Coordinate incident and hazard reporting processes, including supporting investigations and ensuring timely closeout of actions
- Support the implementation and communication of HSE policies, procedures, and programs across the site
- Track compliance with safety training, permits, licenses, and legal requirements, maintaining up-to-date training matrices
- Coordinate HSE onboarding, inductions, and system access for new employees
- Support internal and external audits and inspections by preparing documentation and coordinating logistics
- Assist with toolbox talks, safety alerts, and other HSE communications in collaboration with site and corporate stakeholders
- Participate in HSE meetings, initiatives, and continuous improvement projects to enhance system efficiency and user engagement
- Support change management activities related to updates in HSE systems or processes
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Health, Safety, and Environmental role, preferably within an industrial manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of Ontario Health & Safety legislation, applicable regulations, and ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
- Experience using HSE management or incident reporting systems (e.g., SharePoint, VelocityEHS or similar)
- Strong data management, reporting, and Microsoft Excel skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels of the organization
- Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing environments

The Salary Range for this position is $60,000 to $75,000 annually CAD. The provided range represents the anticipated base salary and target incentive for this position. The final total compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
