Financial Reporting Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for preparing and reviewing quarterly financial reporting, including MD&A, press releases, and committee reports, as well as supporting the consolidation of financial statements. Also accountable for streamlining the preparation of financial statement notes by leveraging existing systems and software, and for providing guidance on new IFRS requirements and the accounting impact of business actions. The role includes benchmarking external reporting against industry peers, meeting management reporting needs, and leading cross-functional teams to enhance reporting processes and ensure consistency across the organization.

 

DUTIES:

  • Assist preparation of the monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements (and accompanying notes therein for the quarter and year-end periods)
  • Prepare the Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) document.
  • Prepare the quarterly press release.
  • Perform detailed quarterly balance sheet reviews of all divisions.
  • Perform a first level detailed review of the consolidation and other top-side journal entries prepared at Corporate level on a monthly basis. 
  • Liaise with external auditors on matters pertaining to the audited consolidated financial statements and other disclosure reports.
  • Perform detailed review of complex accounting journal entries and schedules such as those relating to business combinations (PPA’s), pension accounting, and financial instruments.
  • Provide support to business units in addressing complex accounting matters.
  • Provide guidance on IFRS treatment and benchmark against peers of non-standard business actions taken by Mattr.
  • Prepare accounting memos for complex accounting treatments to ensure compliance with IFRS.
  • Perform benchmark analysis of the MD&A and Press Release with peers.
  • Prepare financial statements for the company’s pension plans in accordance with applicable accounting standards and liaise with external auditors to facilitate the completion of the audit of such statements.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Holding Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is a must. 
  • CPA, CA, or equivalent designation is a must.
  • Minimumg 6 to 10 years related experience.
  • Previous experience in public companies is a must.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing - preferred. 
  • Advanced financial reporting and accounting knowledge under IFRS.
  • Experience in dealing with complex accounting issues.
  • Experience in financial reporting, preferably within large public companies, including preparation of MD&A, press releases, and financial statements.
  • Proficient in handling large-scale consolidation issues.
  • Good working experience with foreign currency consolidation issues.
  • Knowledge of income tax accounting and OneStream would be an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills are a must; and
  • Superior business writing skills.
