Supply Chain Planner

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Procurement of raw materials (Compounds & Metals) and MRO items, overseeing stock levels, identifying and executing continuous improvement opportunities within Shawflex. Overseeing special programs - e.g.: recycling and scrap recover. Assisting Purchasing Manager's procurement duties in their absence.

DUTIES:
PROCUREMENT

• Generate and analyze daily reports for material requirements to support production for Shawflex.
• Generate purchase orders in IFS. Confirm delivery dates and verify price. 
• Expediting/de-expedite raw material deliveries based on changing production requirements.
• Schedule & monitor delivery of raw materials to balance flow within the shipping/receiving area.
• Issue Blanket Purchase Orders, manage stocking programs as required for major parts by analyzing annual usage.  
• Provide necessary feedback to production on potential supply issues.
• Source potential alternate suppliers, monitor market trends.
• Meet with suppliers as required
• Monitor supplier service levels 
• Negotiate pricing
• Manage specialty programs e.g. recycling and scrap recovery
• Support other depts, engineering, quality.
• Supports Material Manager’s related functions when absent

INVENTORY

• Maintain optimum level and mix of raw materials
• Maintain IFS Purchasing data, including pricing, minimum order quantity, lead time, safety stock, etc.
• Update data as required in IFS.  Provide feedback to production personnel. 
• Monitor excess and obsolete inventory.  Generate reports.  Support actions to be taken.
• Manage Off Site Supplier Stocking Program for raw material 

SMS

• Support & participate in continuous improvement projects for Shawflex.

ADMINISTRATIVE

• Generate reports in IFS and use data to prepare monthly Reports. Complete & follow up on NCR’s.

HSE

• Complies with Company HSE Policies and Procedures.
• Participates in the IIF Program.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum community College education
• Minimum 3 years experience in supply chain including Buying and planning
• Previous experience in Manufacturing preferrably in automotive or wire & cable.
• Enrollment in SCMA, APICS or other Procurement related programs an asset.
• Computer literate, knowledge of MRP and World Class Manufacturing, understanding of IFS ERP system
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment 
• Strong customer service skills
• Good analytical skills
• Strong administration skills and able to multi-task
• Ability to develop and exercise initiative (self-starter)
• Understand key principles of Purchasing
