POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and other finance-related projects, while providing reports to various levels of the organization. This position contributes to the organization by delivering thorough and detailed analysis, along with actionable recommendations, which enhance visibility into business performance and support better decision-making.
DUTIES:
1. Prepare and entry of month end transactions into general ledger via journal vouchers.
2. Perform balance sheet analysis and assist controller in other month end closing processes.
3. Maintain the Fixed Asset Database by ensuring all items entered in the general ledger for additions and disposals are recorded on the perpetual ledger and maintaining the Fixed Assets Module in IFS.
4. Prepare and remit GST, HST, QST, and WSIB on a monthly basis.
5. Reconcile all bank accounts and all other balance sheet accounts (Sundry Receivable, Prepaid, Accrued Liabilities, etc.) on a monthly basis.
6. Prepare and review impact of foreign exchange on the translation of cash and intercompany accounts with Finance Manager.
7. Perform inter-company reconciliations, including entering & billing invoices.
8. Perform upload of monthly financials into Onestream & SharePoint.
9. Preparation of periodical tax & insurance packages for submission to internal & external stakeholders.
10. Assist in extracting & providing data for quarterly & annual internal & external audits.
11. Investigate departmental financials at the request of users.
12. Invoice for billings in progress and other items.
13. Assist Finance Controller/SFA with other ad-hoc accounting and data analytical requests.
14. Prepare & ensure appropriate process documentation.
15. Basic understanding of overall costing principles, including standard costing, cost variances, and inventory valuation. Able to assist in cost analysis and reporting, supporting the cost accounting team as needed.
16. Reconcile inventory accounts and ensure accurate reporting in the financial statements.
17. Assist in cycle counts and annual physical inventory counts.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance.
• Completed professional accounting program: CPA/CMA/CGA, or in the final stages for designation.
• Minimum 6 to 10 years of related experience.
• Previous manufacturing experience - preferred
• Solid accounting knowledge with the ability to apply general concepts to specific unique situations along with general accounts payable knowledge.
• Strong communication skills, division personnel, corporate and other division’s personnel, customers and suppliers as necessary.
• Must have good problem solving skills as well as good organizational & time management skills with the ability to be flexible to changing environments and meet tight deadlines.
• Intermediate excel skills (including vlookup, pivot tables, etc)
• Experience in word processing, presentation applications and knowledge of General Ledger packages such as IFS and Onestream preferable.
