POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for leading the quality control and quality assurance activities associated with orders governed ISO 9001. This role also works with Engineering, Production and other teams to execute advanced quality activities for wire & cable products. The Quality Engineer is also responsible for developing systems and processes to maintain and improve product and service quality. This role will assist in driving the quality mindset culture of all staff and apply world-class continuous improvement best practices.

 

DUTIES:

Quality Engineering
-    Act as the primary customer quality contact for customer complaints
-    Lead/oversee investigation of customer complaints and systemic internal non conformances
-    Lead quality improvement initiatives such as error proofing, cost of quality
-    Provide direct daily quality support and guidance on quality control to cross-functional team on order execution
-    Lead/oversee completion of required customer quality documentation such as test reports, certificate of compliance, certificate of analysis and others
-    Review quality records, as required, before submission to customers
-    Establish quality standards including visual standards, document management standards, quality inspection instructions 
-    Create and maintain quality management system documents
-    Assist/administer supplier and vendor audits and assessments 
-    Analyze quality data to identify trends and action plan 
-    Perform Advance Product Quality Planning activities
-    Work in conjunction with process engineering to ensure the production process is meeting required product quality
-    Participate in the development of FMEAs, control plans, SOPs, templates
-    Perform onboarding and quality training as required
Continuous Improvement
-    Champion problem solving sessions (ex. A3/8D) related to internal and external non-conformances
-    Identify and lead/support continuous improvement initiatives
-    Train, mentor and coach team members (quality, operations, engineering) on Continuous Improvement 

Audits
-    Maintain internal audit schedule 
-    Perform internal audits including product /process audits and Layered Process Audits (LPA)
-    Assist/administer supplier and vendor audits and assessments 
-    Support external quality audits including analyzing root causes, identifying and implementing corrective actions

Other duties
-    Carry out and perform the duties and requirements for company HSE including hazard identification, performing safety observations (ASAs)
-    Other duties assigned by manager 
 

 

REQUIREMENTS:
-    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
-    Lean/Six Sigma; QMS Auditing, Quality Standards (ISO) 
-    3 to 5 years of related experience 
-    Experience in Quality Standards (ISO) is required; experience in CSA N299 an asset
-    Experience in quality management of manufactured products.
-    QMS auditor training/experience is an asset
-    Quality and Continuous Improvement mindset
-    Analytical / data driven
-    Ability to work under pressure and bind a team together (production, engineering, quality and other support)

-    Strong Knowledge of SharePoint and automated process flows.
-    Strong ethical compass
-    Good training/facilitation skills
-    Above average interpersonal and communication skills
