Project Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage all aspects of complex, major projects from quote to final delivery stage including regular communication with customers and stakeholders and controlling and coordinating production. The Project Engineer is responsible to deliver flawless execution of customer orders through coordination of all internal and external stakeholders. The Project Engineer will establish expertise with relevant nuclear product families to support internal and external customers and represent Shawflex as a technical project expert and point of contact for assigned projects.  Responsibilities will also include continuous improvement initiatives, project management reporting and customer visits as project liaison.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A)  Production Control

- Manage complex nuclear orders including umbilical cables, EQ (Environmentally Qualified), orders with qualification tests, N299.2/.3, outsourced cable manufacturing, orders to other QA standards (ex. NQA-1)
- Oversee and troubleshoot critical nuclear production runs utilizing hands-on approach with presence on production lines, as required (~50% of the time) for assigned orders
- Manage all resources (materials, documents, schedule, manpower) required for assigned orders
- Work with all internal stakeholders including sales, purchasing, production, quality, engineering, shipping to ensure all materials, resources, equipment and documents required are available during the run
- Work with supervisors and planner/scheduler to schedule nuclear runs to meet customer delivery schedule
- Manage qualification tests scheduling, sequencing, resource staffing and monitoring
- When required, perform production tasks to complete nuclear order runs on time such as preparing reels for steam cure, attaching metal tags, etc
- Work with process engineering, technology group, quality and other stakeholders to resolve production issues related to assigned orders"        

 

B)  Project Management:

Project Oversight
- Chair recurring project update meetings with all internal stakeholders.
- Chair recurring project update meeting with external stakeholders (customers) and publish minutes for external distributions.
- Develop and manage project schedules for key orders
- Participate and develop expertise in the creation of project related documentation such concession applications, inspection and test plans, and others
-Identify project risks and take appropriate action to minimize potential delays, cost overruns or quality issues

Technical Support
- Act as project single point of contact for external and internal stakeholders and develop understanding of unique customer requirements and processes
- Provide guidance based on understanding of critical quality standards (ISO, Z299/N299, NQA-1) and related customer specifications
- Support Sales and Product Engineering in developing project proposals by completing quote and order travelers, creating schedules, gathering pricing for outside services, identifying non-standard requirements and other activities as required
- Maintain a current list of project backlog and individual project schedules"        

 

C) Product Engineering
-Develop a working knowledge of run to order products, including the configurator, shop order knowledge, IFS modifications, and general run to order administration items. 
- Participate and develop expertise in engineered to order products, including qualification and testing, reporting, and engineering trials
- Participate and develop expertise in specialty quoting done by the product engineering group
- Support the Sales and Marketing team to ensure all technical related inquiries are organized and dealt with in a timely manner on assigned projects
- Develop understanding of standard Shawflex product lines and related standards
- Understand and utilize relevant internal processes as required for product engineering activities (ie. ECR, TOD, EWO)"        

 

D) Administration:
- Report active project status in a clear concise manner through written and oral communication and ensure that Monthly Reports are completed within one week of month end.
- Keep up-to-date on material and product technologies.
- Keep up-to-date on customer needs and priorities
- Work to continuously improve internal processes associated with project delivery including production/business process improvement and standardization"    


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Holding Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years experience in process engineering, project and quality engineering.
  • Previous experience in high pace industry such as aerospace, and automotive.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Production/manufacturing hands-on experience such as process or quality engineering
  • Experience in direct customer interaction
  • Understand/interpret engineering specifications and standards.
  • Ability to work fully onsite 
  • PMP - Project Management Professional - preferred
