POSITION SUMMARY: 
1.    Reporting to the Shawflex Finance Controller, this position is responsible for providing financial expertise to the Shawflex Shawflex consolidated region. Emphasis is on directing and influencing management towards the objective of meeting and exceeding its annual Business Plan and its long-term Strategic Plan. Ensuring full compliance with corporate policies and internal control.  Ensuring the division's resources are utilized in the most effective and efficient manner. Also ensure sound judgment on investment strategies.
2.    Corporate responsibility: All accounting and financial reporting, management, tax, financing, legal or IT basis for Shawflex. Meeting the reporting requirements under the IFRS and Corporate policies is a key function of this position.

 

DUTIES:
PLANNING AND STRATEGIC
1.    Lead and prepare with the team members and management input, one year Business Plan and the three-year Strategic Plan for Shawflex consolidated.
2.    Active participation and development of the sales and operation planning process.
3.    Adapt the use of management tools such as Enterprise Resource Planning and Quality Management concepts.

ACCOUNTING REPORTING
4.    Direct and review the preparation of all financial information and reports for Shawflex consolidated, including monthly financial statements, controller's report, monthly financial forecast, quarterly schedules and cash forecasts.
5.    Consolidate & prepare financial information such as Monthly management reports, 12 months rolling financial performance forecasts for Shawflex Americas.
6.    Direct the annual standard cost study and verify that standard improvements and cost reductions are reflected in the new standards.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
7.    Provide guidance and authorize credit granting to customers, and to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures and within sound business practices.
8.    Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines and to maximize benefits of cash discounts, timely payments, etc. 
9.    Analyze operating results for variances to Plan.  Forecast and review alternatives with management
10.    Evaluate all capital expenditure proposals for financial merit. Establish financial payback.
11.    Review results for Sales and Product Costing, manufacturing variances and Operating Expenses through Gross Margin and Contribution Margin performance. Recommend alternatives.
12.    Meet annual departmental budget.

CONTROLLING AND MONITORING
13.    Ensure full compliance with Corporate and Internal Audit requirements (52-109) by initiating policies and procedures that facilitate this.
14.    Ensure the segregation of duties within the finance department. Ensure employees’ duties and tasks are not conflicting with their responsibilities.
15.    Enforce the safe keeping and proper utilization of all divisional assets, including Inventories, Capital Assets, etc. This involves communication to responsive employees on enforcement of policies.
16.    Direct and Influence division towards meeting division's goals.  This involves ensuring policies such as credit terms, payables terms, Inventory levels/days, cash settlement practices, etc. are in place to stimulate appropriate actions.
17.    Meet IFRS standards.

FINANCING, BANKING AND LEGAL
18.    Ensure effective payment process is in place (bank account structure, signatories, banking software, letter of credit)

TAXES
19.    Aid in preparation of transfer pricing studies and documentation. 

HUMAN RELATIONS/ADMINISTRATION
20.    Manage functions and staff of the Accounting department.
21.    Agree on personal objectives of staff. Monitor and provide ongoing support to ensure achievement
22.    Conduct annual performance reviews
23.    Encourage ongoing employee development through educational upgrade and job improvement.
24.    Ensure compliance with Corporate mandate re Incident, Injury Free (IIF) and legal health and safety requirements within department.

 

REQUIREMENTS:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business
•    CPA - required 
•    3 to 5 years accounting experience in manufacturing operation where there are standard costs, variance control, inventory control. 
•    Focus on management of Accounts Receivable.  Experience in global Business environment would be an asset. 
•    Experience in Capital Expenditure justification and control.
•    Experience with integrated MRP2 system. Knowledge of IFS and OneStream an asset.
•    Some experience in Internal Audit would be an asset.
•    Analytical ability to evaluate financial information and apply sound business logic.
•    Ability to get along with people and motivate staff to meet departmental, divisional and corporate goals and objectives.
•    Up to date knowledge and training in computerized business and personal computer applications.
