POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Cost Accountant position will support the management and manufacturing teams' decision making through providing accurate product cost information and to create an environment of product cost awareness.
DUTIES:
- Maintain and update standard costs for all products, raw materials, freight, duty and labor.
- Analyze and reconcile actual vs standard costs; identify key drivers behind variances.
- Work with the manufacturing personnel to improve yield and efficiency.
- Prepare summary feedback of financial statement variances to budget and prior periods; Establish a business partner relationship, with other departments (Ops, sales, engineering, etc.), to provide relevant information to improve business; Monitor and report on cost trends, cost absorption and margin performance; Support Finance Manager in efforts to control fixed and variable costs in accordance with budgeted / forecasted spend-this may include working on ways to increase real time cost visibility and identifying potential targets for cost efficiency improvements; Report on manufacturing variances, overhead expenses, scrap, waste & inventory valuation; Annual compilation of manufacturing budget and review of standard costs; Synthesize data and present reports in a meaningful way to management; Perform month end analysis related to COGS and inventory; Perform other duties as required to ensure the success of the business unit.
- HSE: Cooperate with their employer for the purposes of protecting the health and safety of themselves as well as other workers either engaged or at the work site where the work is being carried out; Ensure that the workers are aware of their health & safety responsibilities & duties.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Holding a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or Commerce.
- Minimum 5 years experience in cost accounting in manufacturing industry.
- Previous experience in standard costing in manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with Month end closing
- Strong experience with maintaining and updating standard costs for all products, raw materials, freight, duty and labor.
- Strong experience with variance analysis
- Completed CPA/CMA or in progress - preferred
- Previous experience with implementation of standard costing system - preferred
- Previous experience with ERP, preferrably IFS - preferred.
- Ability to work fully onsite from our manufacturing facility in Fairfield, OH.
