POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the management of shift personal to ensure product is being produced to standards while ensuring a safe work environment. This position supervises a large number of direct reports as they oversee a shift on the production floor (25 – 40 employees). Using a mix of quality, HSE, and Operation metrics, the Production Supervisor will ensure to build a high-quality product.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES:
People Management
•Manages a diverse team including Lead Operators and Operators to meet business objectives.
•Creates a culture of accountable performance through collaboration in a safe work environment.
•Communicate important information and regular updates to team at daily DMP meetings, bi weekly town hall meetings and one on one follow up.
•Ensures effective employee relations by providing employee coaching and development. Manages employee issues through conflict resolution.
•Provides input for employment decisions that include hiring and terminations and executes disciplinary actions.
•Manages plant priorities and performance measures. Provides regular progress to Production Manager.
•Manages Time & Attendance by verifying that the proper time is entered each pay period, approving and signing off timecards for all production staff on team.
•Preparing and submitting documentation for operator promotions.
•Manages the Lead Operators and operations of the manufacturing floor to ensure job orders and all corresponding paperwork are completed in accordance with the production schedule.
•Complete and deliver performance evaluations.
•Conducts monthly meeting with Lead operators to go over monthly goals and areas of focus based on production demands, KPI’s and organizational needs.
Operations Management
•Manages production through understanding of procedures, processes, equipment and product.
•Balances and reports quality, productivity, costs, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Works to improve in all areas.
•Maintain a good working relationship with fellow Managers, Q.C. and outside inspection personnel to ensure a continuous flow of expected productivity.
•Responsible for monthly MPR slide to communicate team metrics
•Ensure accurate and complete collection of production documentation and data
•Conduct daily DMP meetings and weekly ‘tool box’ meetings
•Generate Purchase Requisitions for any needed tools or consumable items for production not covered by the Kanban system
•Enroll employees in extra training programs both in house and external
HSE
•Administer Company Incident and Injury Free (IIF) safety program QHSE Role.
•Promote safe working habits and maintain good housekeeping 5S to ensure a safe and clean working environment for all employees.
•Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
•Conduct Active Safety Acknowledgment conversations with employees to spread safety message.
•Conduct safety investigations for incidents that occur under supervised area.
•Assign and complete corrective actions as they are generated from Workplace inspections, safety incidents, or any other reporting system.
•Review incidents with team members at DMP.
•Help facilitate the safety corner.
•Train employees on use of incident reporting database.
Quality Control and Continuous Improvement
•Manages employees by checking product to maintain a high standard of quality and quantity. Ensure compliance of technical procedures.
•Promote, manage, and actively participate in the implementation of ShawCor Manufacturing System (SMS) programs.
•Responsible for the development and implementation of SOP and HAA’s throughout the manufacturing facility.
•Help facilitate and carry out manufacturing trials for development of new products or improvements of current products.
•Involved in VSM’s, FMEA’s, Fishbone diagrams as they relate to production.
•Troubleshoot production issues as they arise and assist multiple departments.
•Lead improvement projects with team members.
Maintenance
•Ensure the equipment is in safe and efficient condition to produce expected quality and quantity of product.
•Responsible for the purchase of spare parts and production supplies/consumable for minimum downtime and production.
•Maintenance requests and follow up.
Other duties assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and conflict management.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3-5+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Six sigma lean background a plus.
• The incumbent must have specialized knowledge of various manufacturing processes.
• Must have comprehensive understanding of equipment maintenance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead people and get results through others.
• Must have excellent communication skills (written/verbal).
• Proven leadership skills and strong process knowledge.
• Ability to maintain effectiveness in a changing environment.
• Ability to create a network of contacts with cross functional teams.
• Good computer application skills.
• Must be able to work the 2nd shift (Monday-Thursday; 5:00 pm - 3:30 am), overtime as needed.
• University degree or post-secondary diploma is an asset however, experience is valued above education.
Compensation: $33.00-$37.00 per hr.
