Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is accountable for leading and directing a diverse production organization within a core manufacturing facility. This highly visible role is responsible for translating business objectives into consistent execution—delivering production volume, schedule adherence, quality, customer requirements, and budget performance. Success in this role is measured by the ability to build strong leaders, create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and safety, and drive tangible, sustainable results through people.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a diverse manufacturing organization, including Production Supervisors, Lead Operators, and Operators, to achieve business objectives across production, quality, delivery, cost, and safety.
  • Build and sustain a culture of accountable performance through collaboration while promoting a safe, positive, and engaging work environment.
  • Develop people capability by coaching, mentoring, providing feedback, delegating effectively, and executing performance management, succession planning, and team development practices.
  • Coach and mentor supervisors and managers to strengthen leadership effectiveness and establish development plans for high-potential employees.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in production cost, quality, delivery, and safety.
  • Monitor key performance metrics and take proactive and corrective actions to meet or exceed operational targets.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet current and future production demands using both full-time and variable workforce strategies.
  • Communicate priorities, expectations, and updates clearly and consistently across the production organization.
  • Implement and oversee corrective actions related to non-conformance reports, safety incidents, and quality issues.
  • Manage manufacturing processes, equipment, and operational approvals, including NCRs, safety actions, SOPs, invoicing, and expense reports, ensuring compliance and cost discipline.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing experience, with demonstrated success leading production teams in a complex environment.
  • Proven leadership capability with experience managing supervisors and leading large teams through subordinate leaders.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict management skills, with the ability to remain effective in a changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships and lead through accountability rather than authority alone.
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes and performance management systems.
  • University degree or post-secondary diploma preferred; equivalent experience will be considered an asset.
