Traffic Control Operator

THE ROLE
 

Reporting to the Traffic Supervisor, the Traffic Coordinator will be responsible for the scheduling of air, ground, and ocean carriers, preparing documentation, coordinating loading and unloading activities with receiving and forklift operators along with entering and verifying freight costs in our database. This person will be responsible for the transacting of materials in and out of our inventory system through receiving, shipping, and return functions. The ability to provide insight into policies and procedures along with dedication to safety, quality, and success is important for the continuous improvement of the Supply Chain Department and Mattr.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generating shipping and customs documentation as applicable (waybills, packing slips, commercial invoices, FCC, B13, SED, NAFTA, etc)
  • Sourcing and scheduling carriers for shipments through Canada, USA, and Overseas as required by sales and inventory requirements.
  • Coordinate the inspection of customer returned materials; entering RMA’s according to the sales Terms and Conditions
  • Assist in loading trailers for outgoing shipments and offloading trailers for inbound shipments when required.
  • Verify packing slips/carrier waybills for accuracy of materials delivered and process receipt transactions into the IFS ERP system.
  • General cleanup of the immediate work area is required daily.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 experience in a similar position
  • Experience with intercontinental shipping documentation to the United States and internationally is mandatory.
  • Previous experience with IFS would be a strong asset.
  • Valid Forklift certification would be an asset (PLOG, CLTD, CITT designations preferred)
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work in Microsoft Excel and other computer skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted
  • Be a team player with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work on-site (this role is not eligible for remote work)
