THE ROLE

The Maintenance Technician is a key member of the operations team whose role is to plan, coordinate, schedule, manage, and control all maintenance activities in order to minimize production downtime and maximize capacity and prolong the life cycle of the equipment and facilities for as long as possible while following budgets. All work is to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner and appropriate systems, procedures, and documentation are to conform to requirements.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Complete maintenance tasks related to production, field, and R&D equipment.
  • Assist the Plant engineer in the development and implementation of a corporate preventative maintenance program.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related issues.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new production equipment.
  • Liaison with external vendors relative to parts supply and repair.
  • Manage daily workload and priorities
  • Provide mentorship to production operators relative to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by following safety rules and regulations.
  • Provide on-call support relative to maintenance issues as required.
  • Support the implementation of a new maintenance software planning system.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Previous experience with industrial maintenance and the ability to promptly diagnose and correct mechanical and equipment problems
  • Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting and repair
  • Competent in performing building and equipment maintenance, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry work
  • Ability to work from wiring diagrams and equipment manuals for rebuilding equipment and manual repairs
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as part of a team
  • Ability to learn new tools and equipment as required for the position
  • Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces when required
  • Ability to work variable hours including shift work/ weekends
  • Physical capabilities include bending, crouching, kneeling, and the ability to stand for extended periods of time
