Facilities Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:
Facilities Engineer reports to the Manager, Facilities Engineering. This position is accountable for managing projects related to equipment upgrades, new equipment installation, facilities improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability, and projects from other departments to address safety, cost reduction, and increase production output. All projects need to be executed with Mattr’ s standard project management process. Facilities Engineer will have a good understanding of facility infrastructure equipment like, utilities, compressors, HVAC, and exhaust systems. Work with a team to provide a technical solution for new engineering project and equipment failures. Understanding of building codes and other related industry standard, standard project management skills, standard trouble shooting methodology, and ability to analyze data will be required for this position. This position is located in Rockwall, TX.

 

FACILITIES ENGINEERING

  • Support and follow department Project Master Plan
  • Manage facility related capital projects
  • Support Asset Reliability (AR) teams in managing facilities, equipment maintenance & reliability
  • Plan, organize and control Facility engineering activities
  • Support equipment improvements from the preparation of AFEs and execution plans through the life cycle of the project.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors to ensure scope of work is followed.
  • Provide review, approval, and acceptance of new or modified equipment design and implementation
  • Trouble shoot equipment with a cross function team to ensure minimal production downtime.
  • Evaluate existing equipment and provide recommendation for improvements based on industry standards.
  • Review and validate training and maintenance programs for new equipment or processes.
  • Support development of the Hazard Assessment and Analysis (HAA) and Safety Operation Procedures (SOP) for new/modified equipment and facilities, including training and updates.
  • Mixed office and manufacturing environment
  • Travel to Tanks plant locations for plant engineering activities – expect to a week per month but will fluctuate dependent workload.
  • Travel to vendor locations for equipment-related activities –will fluctuate dependent on the project cycle.
  • Moderate stress related to tight timelines and business change relative to divisional growth activities

 

PROJECT ENGINEERING

  • Design and run projects related to equipment and facilities, propose performance and cost justification for projects and use Facilities Engineering PM tools and templates.
  • Accountable for ensuring the Engineering Design and Change Methodology (EDCM) process is being effectively followed throughout the Project Management life cycle and processes
  • Determine feasibility and priority of projects between the Facility management and the Facility engineering manager.
  • Organize all levels of Project Management including resources, risk management, finances, and scheduling
  • Coordinate projects with the project owners

 

SAFETY

  • Maintain a safe working environment by aligning with corporate safety rules and regulations, and ensuring a culture of safety
  • Ensure that the equipment and process operate efficiently and safely
  • Provide support to the generation of HAA and SOP
  • Every worker shall,

OTHER DUTIES

  • Providing mentoring and coaching to the operations and maintenance team members.
  • Support MTG Manager to ensure division and corporate yearly targets are met

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree: Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
  • 5 to10 years of relevant experience
  • Proven project management experience
  • Plastic extrusion experience would be an asset
  • Excellent planning, time management, collaboration, decision making and organization
  • Possess strong team player skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Understanding of Facilities Infrastructure equipment, Maintenance processes and Equipment reliability experience would be an asset
  • Good computer literacy over a broad range of applications including Solid works and CAD software
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and provide recommendations based on data
  • Strong knowledge of codes and standard that are applicable to the infrastructure equipment
