The Opportunity
The Sales Manager oversees and drives the development and performance of all sales activity within the US market. They lead and develop the sales team, offering guidance and mentorship to steer towards the attainment of growth and profitability in line with the company's overarching goals and objectives. Additionally, they actively contribute to shaping regional targets, as well as targets for individual Account Managers. Through collaborative efforts, they play a pivotal role in business development, concentrating on nurturing relationships with existing customers and prospective clients to foster sustainable growth.

 

In this role you will:

  • Facilitate and guide the establishment of annual, quarterly, and monthly forecasts by unit and revenue. This encompasses thorough analysis of results and continual updates to forecasts in response to emerging trends and customer feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with Applications Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing, to develop tactics and strategies aimed at supporting targets and fostering growth.
  • Set clear sales objectives and devises annual sales budgets for both account managers and customers. This involves forecasting anticipated sales volumes, revenues, and margins.
  • Moreover, this role carries the responsibility of aiding in the establishment of forecasts for new products or services and providing invaluable ""voice of the customer"" insights to the organization. This input facilitates the development of products that are poised for market acceptance.
  • Formulates pricing recommendations by vigilantly monitoring costs, competitive intelligence, and the fluctuations in supply and demand market dynamics. Additionally, they advise on the optimal inventory mix for pipe, fittings, and consumables.
  • Provide crucial forecast information to Field Operations, enabling proper staffing levels for field technicians and rental equipment inventory.
  • Remaining abreast of industry trends, KPIs, economic indicators, and competitor activities ensures the company maintains a strong foothold in the region.
  • Sustain a top-performing team comprising account managers and business development professionals. This entails conducting regular follow-ups on individual performance and frequent check-ins to track progress towards goals and objectives.                     
  • Collaborates with US Operations Team and VP Oil and Gas to ensure adequate resources for field staffing, rentals, inside sales, project coordination, applications engineering, marketing, and collections to support the regional sales plan.
  • Maintains high-performing sales staff through recruitment, selection, orientation, and training. Ensures achievement of direct reports results through counseling, coaching, planning, monitoring, and appraising performance.
  • Stays updated with professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, publications, and networking. Contributes to team effort to achieve related results as required.       

 

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 2-year college or equivalent combination education and experience is required
  • 5 years of progressive sales experience
  • Experience in the sales of pipes, valves, fittings or production equipment. 
  • Direct sales experience selling new technology or a differentiated product is an asset.
  • Technical skills with specific strengths in sales
  • Strong financial and business acumen, an understanding of the needs of the business and the ability to link policies and programs to the business objectives
  • Strategic capability, proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment would be an asset
  • Positive, “can-do” attitude providing an ability to deal with challenging situations
  • Displays creative and flexible problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills, discipline and attention to details
  • An individual of unquestioned business ethics and personal integrity
  • Excellent verbal, written and relationship management skills, ability to interact at all levels of the organization
