Position Summary

The HSE Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation and administration of corporate Mattr and Composite Systems (CS) policies/procedures to establish and promote safe, healthy and environmentally protective working conditions within the company. The HSE Coordinator will be the resource to operations on all regulatory issues, compliance, training program facilitation, and incident investigations pertaining to HSE in order to maintain an incident and injury free culture.

 

Duties & Accountabilities

  • Oversees field ops implementation of occupational safety/health and environmental program activities ensuring regulatory compliance and conformance to internal CS HSEMS standards. Fosters continual focus on our Incident and Injury Free philosophy.
  • Ensure the effective use of HSE information management tools (Velocity, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) is in place for site leaders and use information to understand and manage risk. Trend performance data to understand areas of weakness. Responsible for the maintenance of all HSE records and training program.
  •  Lead HSE culture initiatives, conduct HSE inspections and observations, and facilitate frequent HSE-related conversations with employees to ensure active engagement and application of IIF philosophy to daily work habits.
  • Participate on Composite Systems (CS) HSE Team and Flexpipe HSE Team. Lead HSE Team for own site by setting agenda, facilitating meeting and coordinating deployment of CS HSE initiatives.
  • Coordinate full compliance to site environmental issues related to waste minimization and disposal, stormwater pollution control and take an active role in site ESG initiatives.
  • Act as site “conscience for safety” ensuring continual focus on risk management, incident free performance and proactive measures to continually improve the safety of the workplace.  Active participation and promotion of workplace inspections, ASA’s and HAZID’s are critical in the role.

 

Knowledge and Qualifications  

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g.: Occupational Health and Safety Certificate) is an asset. Equivalent coursework or credentials may be considered
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Field HSE experience or previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is required
  • Customer service oriented, multi-tasker, ability to influence/build trust, problem-solving
  • Knowledge in Health, Safety and Environmental statistical reporting is an asset
  • Previous experience in fleet management and DOT is an asset
  • Previous experience on customer registries is an asset (ISN, PEC, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate with different levels of a business from engineers to field employees
  • Detail-oriented and able to work under minimal supervision
  • Safety conscious at and away from work

Safety

 

  • Maintain a safe working environment by aligning with corporate safety rules and regulations, and ensuring a culture of safety
  • Ensure that the equipment and process operate efficiently and safely
  • Provide support to the generation of HAA and SOP
  • Cooperate with their employer for the purposes of protecting the health and safety of themselves as well as other workers either engaged or at the work site where the work is being carried out

 

Compensation: $82,000 - $85,000 annually based on experience.
