Job Summary:

 

The primary role of the position is to develop, implement and continually improve the quality systems to ensure all products and services meet customer requirements, engineering design requirements, and applicable standards. The scope of this position includes internal/external quality requirements, quality functions and working as a support function to all DSG-CANUSA departments. This position will be responsible for the effective delivery of supplier performance development and the resolution of non-conformance. This role will generate accountable metrics to ensure they are utilized to quantify and track improvements. This role will mentor, support and work alongside an extensive team of engineers, procurement, and organizational professionals. The ability to lead cross functional teams on projects to resolution and effective implementation is critical to success in this role. This position will be recognized as a leader in the organization, an influence of a culture of incident and injury free workplace (IIF).

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Leadership and Quality Engineering
  • Implements and manages quality plan to ensure alignment to strategic targets and goals.
  • Mentor, coach, and monitor quality assistants, provide support and assistance when required.
  • Supports manager in developing strategy, identifying potential future quality projects and activities, also supporting Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation.
  • Leads and models best practices in completing quality initiatives for the site.
  • Lead quality-related incident investigations utilizing appropriate investigative tools (i.e., 8D, A-3, 5why) from root cause identification to corrective action assignment, and implementation.
  • In collaboration with Process Engineering, Production, Quality team members, write detailed technical inspection & testing work instructions, visual boards, checklists, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support the ongoing development of our quality program and standards to all departments with specific focus on engineering support and requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and apply VSM and SPC as appropriate.
  • Support HSE safe work practices and standards.
  • Issue, monitor, maintain and close SCAR / NCR / CC to ensure effective close loop corrective action methodologies and provide leadership and support to all A3 development teams.
  • Perform/support supplier audits, evaluations and strengthen relationships as required with SQA objectives.
  • Develop, train, implement and support SPC initiatives, FMEA, R&D lifecycle.
  • Develop and monitor for improvement system tools: SCAR / NCR / CC & document control.
  • Coordinate quality-related Corrective/Preventative Action System activities.
  • Assist in UL certification activities and audits.
  • Support departments with guidance and training of ERP quality-related processes.
  • Participate in the coordination of training and educational programs appropriate to the quality assurance needs of the company.
  • Controlling Compliance with Measurement Equipment.

 

Quality Execution:

 

  • Acts as first point of contact for any escalation of quality issues and problems at site level.
  • Audit facilities and work being performed for QMS compliance, write audit reports, and conduct follow-up on corrective actions until closure.
  • Control manufacturing product quality through implementation of in-line quality process controls/measures, statistical process control plans, Lean, and Six Sigma.
  • Administer and provide training on the QMS elements.
  • Support development of and audit material testing and analysis of results.
  • Collect data on relevant quality performance indicators, scorecard, metrics development.
  • Comply with all operations and Quality related processes.
 
 
Project Support:
 
  • Collaborate with other departments through cross-functional teams and meetings.
  • Perform technical quality system training for other departments.
  • Perform special inspections & testing as needed.
  • Provide Quality expertise in defining project goals and execution measurements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
 
Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE):
 
  • Maintain a safe working environment by aligning with corporate safety rules and regulations and ensuring a culture of safety.
  • Lead and model safety culture and behavior across the organization.
  • Mentor and discipline Quality team members in line with safety policies and guidelines.

 

Education / Experience:

 

  • University Degree (preferred)
  • 7-10 years of experience (preferred)
  •  

Qualifications or Certifications:

 

  • COA - Cerficiate of Analysis (preferred)
  • CQE - Certified Quality Engineer (preferred)
