Summary
As a key member of the site leadership team, the Production Manager leads all production operations across the Fairfield facility, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance. This role drives day‑to‑day execution while actively developing supervisors and production teams to consistently meet business objectives. Through strong on‑the‑floor engagement and continuous improvement leadership, the Production Manager ensures operational stability, strengthens workforce capability, and delivers high‑performing, reliable manufacturing outcomes that support Mattr’s strategic goals.
Salary Range: $99,200-$124,000
Responsibilities
Operations, Quality & Engineering
- Lead and coordinate all production activities across the Fairfield facility, ensuring efficient throughput, labor utilization, and machine performance.
- Monitor team morale and foster a positive, engaged work environment that celebrates successes and encourages continuous improvement.
- Drive initiatives that improve efficiency, machine reliability, utilization, cycle times, scrap reduction, maintenance performance, and overall cost effectiveness.
- Partner with Supply Chain Planning & Scheduling to build accurate production and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure accuracy of production reporting and maintain Kanban processes to sustain tooling, consumables, and supply availability.
- Train employees to meet TS16949 and IATF 16949 requirements and support cross‑training to increase workforce flexibility.
- Collaborate with Engineering and MTC on equipment design reviews, commissioning, and process enhancements.
- Lead and engage teams in continuous improvement projects that enhance materials, machines, and processes.
Human Relations & Leadership
- Apply Mattr HR policies and values consistently to support a fair, productive, and inclusive work environment.
- Conduct regular meetings with supervisors and production teams to align priorities and address concerns.
- Oversee performance management, talent development, succession planning, coaching, and corrective actions as needed.
- Manage overtime, absenteeism, vacation planning, and workforce deployment across shifts.
- Build strong relationships with cross‑functional teams and support effective communication throughout the facility.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Champion the corporate HSE Management System and IIF (Incident & Injury Free) vision.
- Ensure 5S standards are followed and continuously improved across all work areas.
- Conduct risk assessments for equipment and processes and support the implementation of the Health Management System.
- Maintain safe operations while driving improvements in safety culture and compliance.
Qualifications
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership capability with proven experience coaching and developing teams.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with PM and maintenance systems.
- Strong decision‑making, organizational, and communication skills.
- Expertise in production management, quality systems, manufacturing methods, and safe equipment use.
- Ability to identify defects, follow instructions, and train employees across all functional areas.
- Hands‑on experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or TPS methodologies.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949, EN 9100, and EN 14001 quality systems.
- Solid operations, engineering, planning, and human relations experience.
Education & Experience
- Community College diploma in Operations Management, Technical discipline, OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or Engineering (preferred).
- 3 years of relevant production leadership experience required; 6 years preferred.
- A strong combination of education and experience will be considered.
