Job Summary
The Process Engineer Intern will support continuous improvement projects and product process development activities at the DSG Canusa Fairfield Site under the guidance of senior engineers. This internship provides hands-on experience in process engineering while developing foundational skills in manufacturing systems, data analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
Key Responsibilites:
- Production Support:
- Assist in daily operations and live production at the DSG Canusa Fairfield site under supervision.
- Shadow and support facility supervisors, line operators, and the maintenance team to learn how equipment and production processes function; observe and assist with problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques.
- Process Improvement:
- Assist in documenting and executing process improvement and process development projects; learn to analyze line efficiencies, cost variances, and product margins under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Process Engineering:
- Support the process engineering team with data collection, documentation, and analysis; assist product engineering and quality control teams with projects; learn to apply data-driven problem-solving techniques and CAD software.
- Learning & Development:
- Participate in technical knowledge training sessions; complete assigned learning modules and projects to build foundational engineering skills.
- EHS: Assist with Environmental Health and Safety Initiatives and learn company safety protocols.
Education and Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field)
- Projects or coursework in manufacturing/process engineering preferred
- Completed coursework in manufacturing processes, statistics, or quality management
- Exposure to CAD software through academic projects
- Basic understanding of Lean/Six Sigma concepts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an accredited engineering program
