Summary

At DSG-Canusa, a business of Mattr, the Process Engineer II plays a critical role in improving manufacturing performance, supporting production operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position combines hands-on plant-floor problem solving with process optimization and project execution to improve quality, throughput, cost performance, and overall operational effectiveness. Success in this role comes from the ability to balance day-to-day production support with longer-term process improvements while collaborating closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to manufacturing operations by troubleshooting production issues, supporting line operators and supervisors, and validating tooling and process solutions in a live production environment.
• Lead process improvement and development initiatives that enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, improve product margins, and strengthen competitiveness.
• Support new product introductions and manufacturing readiness by partnering with Product Engineering, Product Development, Product Management, and Quality teams.
• Utilize data-driven problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and improve process capability.
• Contribute to manufacturing projects through process design, documentation, analysis, and execution.
• Apply CAD tools as required to support engineering and manufacturing activities.
• Support the development and transfer of technical knowledge through mentoring, coaching, and collaborative training activities.
• Assist Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives to promote a safe and compliant manufacturing environment.
• Collaborate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to achieve operational objectives.

Qualifications

Required

• University degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing operations and process engineering within a production environment.
• Demonstrated success troubleshooting and supporting manufacturing processes on the plant floor.
• Experience leading or contributing to process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience collaborating with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and guide technical decisions without direct authority.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while balancing operational support and improvement projects.

Preferred

• Well-rounded process engineering experience with strong automation background.
• Manufacturing or process engineering experience with exposure to industrial automation, controls, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
• Demonstrated interest in developing automation expertise through training and practical application.
• Experience supporting product development, product engineering, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Exposure to industrial controls, automation systems, and manufacturing technologies.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical leadership on cross-functional projects.
• Strong learning agility and the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, processes, and business requirements.

• Identify and resolve production bottlenecks impacting efficiency, quality, or throughput.
• Deliver measurable improvements through process optimization and continuous improvement projects.
• Build strong working relationships across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Safety functions.
• Demonstrate the ability to balance reactive production support with proactive improvement initiatives.
