POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for all plant operations, production and performance through planning, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of the management team and employees. The Plant Manager is accountable for ensuring production quality and safety standards throughout the facility. The Plant Manager works with Corporate R&D, Finance/Accounting and Sales Departments to ensure the production of the "right products" in a timely manner and at cost-effective means. Participates in Company planning and budgeting by maintaining plant budgets. Works with the Director of Health and Safety to ensure safety of plant employees and production processes.
DUTIES
- Lead plant operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and cost optimization
- Develop and execute strategies to achieve plant financial results and operational objectives
- Define, track and report on KPI’s for safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance
- Manage and develop plant teams, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization
- In collaboration with the HSE coordinator the plant manager is responsible for the safety of all employees in the facility and the safe implementation of new production processes
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, labor, and environmental regulations, as well as Group policies
- Develop, monitor, and adjust production schedules to align with customer demand
- Monitor and adjust production techniques for safety, throughput, standardization, and quality; identify improvement opportunities & create action plans.
- Develop and implement production strategies to meet customer demand on time and on budget
- Accountable for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventory accuracy and supply opportunities
- Lead and influences supply chain partners and internal team to resolve supply bottlenecks and relevant issues
- Ensure incoming materials and finished products meet DSG-Canusa’s quality expectations
- Ensure material requirements and planning are coordinated with production needs
- Implement and manage continuous improvement initiatives and activities
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
- Minimum 7-10 years of related experience in an Industrial Manufacturing Company preferred
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineer or Business preferred
- Valid driver license with ability to travel up to 10% within North America
- Excellent leadership skills (ability to motivate people, change organizations, communicate direction, and course correct)
- Strong analytical skills and experience in profit centre management.
- Operations, Sales & Marketing, Engineering, HR and Financial Management skills & experience.
- Good facilitation / Team building skills & experience.
- Strong Human relations skills & experience
- Strong financial and budgetary focus on cost controls to support business objectives
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing standards / QMS (e.g. ISO 9001, IATF 16949, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Tools (Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Waste Elimination, etc.)
