Reporting to the Production Manager and closely with the Crane Operate, the Yard Person is accountable for assisting in shipping, receiving, and storing of products materials and supplies. The incumbent will also assist with Inventory when required.
Duties & Accountabilities
- Verifies materials and supplies received are the correct items as ordered, correct quantity, and in good condition including concealed damage.
- Storing raw materials and maintaining a tracking system.
- Transports completed products from production areas to storage and/or prepares them for shipment
- Organizing loads and shipping tanks and accessories.
- Locates and prepares for shipment all accessories, materials, and supplies required for shipments from shop, order documents, shipping papers and instructions.
- Assists in loading completed products, material, and supplies on various modes of transportation and secure properly.
- Assisting production by moving and delivery of parts, supplies and products
- Signaling operators to guide them in moving equipment
- Notifies supervisor of any damage or non-conformance to permit proper repair before shipment
- Storing tanks in the yard and maintaining the tank tracking system
- Maintaining the appearance of the yard and warehouse, such as debris removal, facility and yard clean up, set up, etc.
- Maintaining equipment and tools properly, ensuring they are in good working condition
- Maintain work area neat, clean and free of debris
- Assist with other departments as needed
- Assisting with month end inventory counts when required
- Snow removal as needed
- Additional duties as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma is required
- Minimum 2 years general related experience or previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is required
- Previous experience training individuals on manufacturing job tasks. Direct experience in a fiberglass reinforced plastic manufacturing facility or similar facility is preferred
- Ability to learn how to operate necessary tools and equipment including forklift and related machinery
- Effective listening and strong communication skills
- Highly organized and detail orientated
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 20-50 lbs., bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
- Ability to work mon-fri 6:00am – 4:00pm, and overtime as required
