Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Quality Control Inspector will ensure and record that all incoming, in-process, final product, and shipping preparation of product meet required quality standards. The Quality Control Inspector will mentor and guide production members to ensure the document management system is maintained, and document governance methods are followed consistently throughout the production process.

 

 

Duties & Accountabilities

 

Quality Control Activities:

o Maintain and assist with development of material incoming inspection procedures to ensure that all materials are inspected

 according to industry and internal standards and according to material specifications.

o Maintain, execute and assist with development of visual standards for use in inspection process to clarify status of                                                          questionable product.

o Perform raw material incoming inspection and testing as defined by procedures and control plans.

o Perform incoming inspection and testing on purchased goods as defined by procedures and control plans.

o Perform final quality review of manufactured product documentation and ensure product documentation is archived                                                        properly.

o Ensure measuring devices are calibrated according to schedule and as required in the Quality Management System (QMS).

o Perform Quality Control testing and maintain results on products at defined stages of production as required.

o Remove in-process non-conforming product for re-work

o Communicate through standard reporting protocols, quality issues on all stages of products; participate in and communicate                                           Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activity with other members of the organization affected by the quality issue via Non-Conformance Reporting                   (NCR) process.

             o Participate in Daily Management process meetings and communicate quality issues and information

 

Communication and Coordination:

    • Use smart phones for routine communication and using app based functions on a smart phone.
    • Utilize email and other communication platforms (e.g., instant messaging) via computer systems to coordinate and update teams.

Data Entry and Reporting:

    • Input, process, and analyze data in windows based programs to generate reports, manage schedules, and track performance metrics.
    • Manage and organize data using computer-based systems to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.

 

  • Monitoring and Calibration of Equipment:
    • Operate pressure gauges and Bluetooth-enabled equipment to monitor and measure system performance.
    • Ensure calibration and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal functionality.

 

  • Technology and Equipment Management:
    • Work with Bluetooth devices and ensure synchronization with other technologies or systems to gather and analyze data.

Required Skills and Technologies:

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting.
  • Comfortable using smart phones for internal and external communication and apps.
  • Experience with pressure gauges and related equipment to monitor systems.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth-enabled devices and troubleshooting basic connectivity issues.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other office software.

Working Conditions:

Outgoing Testing

  • ensure that all finished products are inspected according to product specification.
  • Ensure that outgoing product is loaded and prepared for shipping according to defined procedures.
  • Manage the quality testing schedule as set by supervisor and meet the required performance metrics including attainment and cycle time.
  • Maintain quality testing results reporting and communicate through a standard report
  • Validate final product integrity and that configuration meets required standard
  • Communicate regarding quality issues on finished products; participate in and communicate RCA findings to with other members of the organization affected by the quality issue via NCR process.

 NCR Support

  • Support NCR System and Process by submitting NCR reports on quality issues, material and process deviations and issues.
  • Perform RCA to understand the root cause of the issue
  • Implement and participate in the development of interim and permanent corrective actions
  • Help with the disposition of non-conforming material to ensure the material is acceptable based on the established criteria and specifications; ensuring non-conforming product is quarantined and not available for production use
  • Support the management of the Non- conformance Request Performance Index including cycle time and/or QA Hold turnover and QA Hold Value.

Quality Assurance Support

  • Support Quality Audits
    • Help with the coordination of corrective actions resulting from quality audits;
    • Support audits to measure conformance as per area work instructions and product specifications.
    • Assist in the SMS and ISO audit as per quality plan.
  • Support Quality Communications
    • Facilitate communications to production and other parts of the organization regarding NCR, material deviations, CA, process deviations and other pertinent quality activities.
    • Update the Quality Alert board of relevant communications as per above and email to the appropriate stakeholders.

Documentation

  • Supply quality documents as needed for other departments and customers
  • Documents product non-conformance in writing and verbally report to designated area personnel, per departmental procedures.
  • Support department on all applicable/necessary documentation, such as Non-Conformance Report, Corrective Actions Requests, Supplier Corrective Actions Request, work instructions.
  • File production documentation and software generated files (eg pressure test) as required.
  • Assist with the generation of production documentation as required by Quality Control Plans.

 SMS Advancement

  • Conduct data collection activities to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Become and remain actively involved in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Lean Enterprise (Shawcor Management System (SMS)) and corporate optimization programs as required

 Other Duties

  • provide support to other departments and provide immediate action to resolve quality issues.
  • Mentor and guide production members to ensure proper inspection methods are conducted consistently and record findings appropriately as per template and standards
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of work area by performing various housekeeping 5S duties
  • Support ongoing manufacturing initiatives.
  • Establish the position as the primary point of contact for quality related support in addition to building beneficial relationships throughout manufacturing.
  • Cross-train as assigned Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • (2-5) years of related experience in Quality Control.
  • Direct experience in a fiberglass reinforced plastic manufacturing facility or similar facility is preferred.
  • Use of calibration equipment and measuring devices
  • Microsoft Excel and basic computer skills
  • Attention to details for visual inspection and data entry
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and be part of a dynamic team.
