POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pipeline Applications Engineer will provide direct technical support to key stakeholders, with a primary focus on upstream oil and gas pipeline applications across various regions. This role is critical in ensuring that Flexpipe’s flexible composite pipeline products are properly designed, installed, and operated to deliver reliable, long-term performance.
Success in this position requires the development of deep expertise in oil and gas pipeline systems, as well as the ability to effectively share technical knowledge with cross-functional teams—including design engineers, account managers, and field installation personnel. The engineer will be responsible for addressing customer technical inquiries in a thorough and timely manner, collaborating with clients to develop fit-for-purpose solutions, and resolving issues related to installation, pipeline integrity, and operations.
In addition, the Pipeline Applications Engineer will play a key role in driving industry acceptance of Flexpipe’s composite pipeline technologies by ensuring alignment with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and technical bodies.
This position is based in Calgary, Alberta, enabling regular in-person engagement with customers. A hybrid work environment combining home and office work is typical for this role. This is a 15-18 month contract role.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct technical support to relevant stakeholders, primarily for oil and gas upstream pipelines in various regions, to ensure that Flexpipe flexible composite pipeline products are designed, installed, and operated in a manner which will perform reliably. This technical support will require achieving significant oil and gas pipeline industry expertise, while also sharing knowledge with co-workers; including design engineers, account managers, and pipeline installation staff. It will also include thoroughly and promptly addressing all customer technical concerns, collaborating with customers to develop solutions to their needs, and resolving any potential concerns related to pipeline installation, integrity, or operational issues.
- Drive the acceptance of Flexpipe composite pipeline products within industry regulations, pipeline standards, and technical associations. Achieve high visibility in these forums through presentations and leadership roles on committees.
- Manage, troubleshoot, and effectively respond to operational or product performance concerns, including field visits.
- Interact with Flexpipe product and applications engineering groups to ensure best practices and shared experiences with regards to product applications, installations, product performance, processes and customer interactions.
- Communicate opportunities for new products, testing, and services based on client needs for an expanded operating envelope. Collaborate to ensure needs are addressed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- At least 3-5 years of direct experience.
- College degree required; Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering major preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in the oil and gas industry, primarily upstream facilities and pipelines.
- Must have knowledge and understanding with flexible, composite pipeline systems.
- Experience with pipeline design and/or construction practices would be an asset.
- Experience with Integrity Management.
- Superior dialogue and communication skills – written and verbal required.
- Root cause analysis and Data Analytics experience preferred.
- Strong client focused attitude and attention to detail.
- Ability and proven experience to think creatively while learning and developing innovative solutions for client’s projects.
- Ability to quickly adapt and excel in both a technical and a customer service environment.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) skills.

Salary: $84,000 - $110,000 annually
