JOB SUMMARY
The Logistics Supervisor is accountable for logistical operations pertaining to product and equipment shipments for all Xerxes manufacturing sites. The job holder will be responsible for the support of the logistics coordinators and will manage daily logistics activities across Xerxes manufacturing sites, this will include full truckload & less than truckload shipments, cross-border shipments and associated customs management. The job holder maintains carrier relationships and actively manages carrier performance including management of Xerxes LTL carriers. The position ensures that transportation modes, frequency of transports and routing are as efficient, safe and as cost effective as possible.
The position qualifies for a hybrid remote work schedule and will involve occasional travel, typically up to 5% of the time, within North America.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountable for logistical operations pertaining to product and equipment shipments for tank manufacturing sites
- Monitors shipping metrics, shipment misses and drives resolution through corrective actions
- Manages & owns carrier relationships, serving as primary point of contact for the business
- Manages freight claims to be filed with carriers ensuring all supporting documentation is submitted with claims
- Identifies, evaluates, and onboards new carriers to meet business objectives
- Ensures that transportation modes, frequency of transports and routing are as efficient, safe and as cost effective as possible
- Actively manage expenses, including duty, fuel surcharge, tariff, brokerage and/other expenses Monitors internal reporting and optimizes carrier spend to minimize logistical costs
- Supports International and plant related shipping projects as assigned
- Manages performance of logistics coordinators
- Regularly liaises with supply chain team, commercial team and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on shipping plan
- Serves as escalation point for execution priorities
- Serve as back-up leadership support for day-to-day logistic coordinators operations as required (vacation and/or sick coverage)
- Promotes continuous improvement mindset, adoption of best practices and drives intelligent standardization
- Actively challenges current state cost structure, processes, procedures, system configuration/functionality, and reporting across logistics functions
- Explores economically practical options to reduce the company’s environmental impact associated with activities in scope
- Formulates continuous improvement proposals for leadership consideration
- Ensures key performance indicators (KPIs) are actively managed, with deviations from target and unfavorable trends escalated with correct urgency
- Work with appropriate stakeholders to drive compliance with HSE, labor, insurance, transportation, and other regulatory requirements within scope
- Immediately address or escalate deficiencies
- Ensures compliance with import/export regulations and all provincial/state/federal laws and regulations pertaining to logistical operations, regularly conducting compliance audits across carrier network
- Actively monitors and manages cross-border shipments clearing through brokers
- Regularly reviews applicable functional policies, standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliant and/or best practice operations
- Revise documentation as appropriate
- Lead and/or participate in relevant audits as required
- Terminates underperforming carrier partnerships
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities. Ability to lead, drive and inspire required to drive execution
- Logistics subject matter expertise, superior planning/organizing skills, strategic thinking, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work and collaborate effectively with functional leaders to influence change and improve performance
- Strong customer satisfaction focus
- Proficient with computer systems and programs relevant to the logistics industry
- Continuous improvement mindset which aims to challenge status quo
- 3 years experience in logistics
- 1 year minimum of direct management experience is required
