Reporting to the Talent Manager with dotted line accountabilities to the Production Supervisor, the Technical Trainer (Molding) is accountable for advanced training and support of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) component Molders. This person is a Subject Matter Expert in areas of training, tank molding, wall shells, domes, and related products. The Technical Trainer (Molding) is expected to raise quality, capacity, skill levels and assess performance/capabilities and competencies of Molders at the site. They are accountable for delivering training programs to employees to improve their skills, knowledge, and performance. This role involves assessing training needs and conducting sessions in various formats.                                    

                                   

Duties & Accountabilities

 

Train site Molders on how to appropriately:

  • Follow established procedures to apply material by hand and/or machine to produce standard and nonstandard components and products
  • Prepare mold or tool surface properly with release film, wax and other part release products
  • Utilize resin, glass, catalyst, mold releases and related materials, adjusting for changing climatic conditions
  • Trim parts to the proper dimensions based on process sheets, established standards, drawings and verbal instructions
  • Inspect laminate surfaces for defects, imperfections, foreign material or other non-conformance, identifying and correcting as necessary
  • Utilize machines, equipment, and hand tools
  • Complete evaluations
  • Team calls/project reviews                                                                                                                                                                        Work with members of the Talent Development team and other functional areas to enhance training plan/SOPs
  • Record/ Document/ Audit training records within the LMS as it relates to Molders and evaluated competencies
  • Create employee specific training criteria for re-training purposes related to PIP and Quality                                                                                                                     
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.    

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years general related experience or previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is required
  • Previous experience training individuals on manufacturing job tasks. Direct experience in a fiberglass reinforced plastic manufacturing facility or similar facility is preferred
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate and train others in complex tasks required  
  • Good understanding of the English language including verbal and written communication skills, along with effective communication to others                          
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and drawings                                   
  • Ability to work effectively with others and be part of a dynamic team                                   
  • Ability to learn new tools, equipment and material used in underground storage tank manufacturing                                   
  • Ability to solve mathematical problems related to position                       
  • Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment / with Lean principles is an asset
