Senior Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Project Manager is accountable to lead and manage multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring they meet the budgetary, scheduling and quality requirements. Manage shared project resources to maximizes resource utilization and accelerate project execution. Create and distribute project documentation, including project schedule in MS Project, project charters, progress dashboards and budgets, for the full project lifecycle. Projects will be related to, but not limited to, development and de-risking of the Composite Technologies supply chain. The diverse scope of projects to be executed and achieved require an adaptable individual to support and lead projects across the business.
The position will support the development of a project management office (PMO) within the organization and develop a suite of governance that promotes best project management practices across the organization. This will include mentorship of project managers throughout the business. 
Collaborating with Supply Chain, Quality, Product Engineering, and other functional groups as appropriate to achieve project objectives.  She/he directly, formulates comprehensive plans in Microsoft Project, ensuring projects are correctly scoped, appropriately resourced, delivered on time and within budget

 

DUTIES:
A.Serves as HSE leader for the organization, responsible for driving Shawcor Incident & Injury Free (IIF) expectations, with focus on identifying and eliminating risk.  Investigates HSE profile/performance of potential suppliers as part of supplier evaluation process. Communicates expectations, opportunities and/or recommendations for risk reduction, safer work practices, etc. to prospective partners as appropriate.  

 

B.Responsible for project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/control, and project closing for the qualification of new materials, components and/or other fabricated parts/equipment and subsequent onboarding of new suppliers (as warranted), leveraging a multi-stakeholder audience, including Supply Chain, Quality, Product Engineering, and other functional groups as appropriate.
Demonstrate that project metrics are in control, by developing progress measurement tools and comparing against established project plans. Investigate variances/gaps and implement mitigation measures to minimize impact to budget and/or planned objectives.  Escalates out of control conditions and implements recovery plans with urgency to enhance outcomes. Actively communicates with business leadership on developments, escalations, and risk management. Systematically reports results to senior leadership on a consistent frequency to be determined. 
Coordinate with international resources (team members, contractors, consultants) to audit suppliers and conduct quality spot audits on regular intervals to ensure compliance and quality requirements are satisfied.
Responsible for supporting the stand up of a PMO and implementing project management best practices. As well as offering mentorship to junior and intermediate project managers throughout the business to ensure project management practices are aligned with PMO expectations. 

 

C.Accountable for managing detailed performance scorecards for assigned programs and projects.  Ensure project key performance indicators (KPIs) are actively managed, with deviations from target and unfavorable trends escalated with correct urgency. Maintain strict adherence to internal compliance standards during prospective supplier engagements. For assigned projects, work with relevant stakeholders to drive compliance with HSSE, labor, regulatory, insurance and other governance requirements.  Lead and/or participate in relevant audits as appropriate. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 7 to 10 years related experience as a project manager 
  • Completed Bachelor's degree education 
  • Master's degree or MBA - preferred
  • Valid PMP - a must 
  • Previous experience working in manufacturing, oil & gas, supply chain - preferred
  • Strong practical experience using MS Project - a must 
  • Ability to work remote setup from one of the following locations, Calgary, Edmonton, Dallas, Houston, Blythewood or Rockwall.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
