Assembler – Manufacturing / Assembly
Summary
As an Assembler, you play a key role in producing the high‑quality fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) storage tanks and components that Mattr is known for. Reporting to the Production Manager or Shift Supervisor, you will join FRP components using a hand lay‑up process to build single‑wall and double‑wall shells, domes, and related products. Your work directly supports safe, reliable production performance and contributes to meeting customer and plant expectations for quality, efficiency, and safety.
Responsibilities
Assembly & Production
- Operate machinery, equipment, and hand tools to cut, shape, splice, and fit plastic materials into parts and assemblies.
- Follow blueprints and drawings to join shell halves using the hand lay‑up process.
- Install fittings, gauge plates, manways, and other components and accessories.
- Cut and prepare composite materials from patterns to join parts and assemblies.
- Make minor adjustments or repairs to products as needed.
- Perform regular inspections to ensure work meets company quality standards.
- Complete process sheets and time cards accurately and on time.
- Use grinders, trimmers, measuring tools, rollers, and other equipment; perform preventive maintenance when required.
- Support additional assembly tasks as needed to meet production requirements.
Health & Safety
- Follow all company Health, Safety, and Security rules and maintain a positive safety attitude.
- Immediately report incidents to a supervisor; participate in investigations when required.
Work Practices & Accountability
- Use materials effectively to reduce waste and support efficient production workflow.
- Maintain quality control and manage time and materials to meet plant schedules.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in an FRP manufacturing facility or similar environment is preferred but not required.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong production and quality‑focused mindset.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and drawings.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively with team members in a fast‑paced environment.
- Willingness to learn new tools, equipment, and materials used in above‑ground and underground tank manufacturing.
- Basic mathematical problem‑solving ability.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles is an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent climbing, balancing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, grasping, and feeling to complete assembly tasks.
- Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and production equipment.
- Clear near‑to‑mid‑range vision and depth perception required for safe, accurate work.
Working Conditions
- Work performed in a fiberglass reinforced plastic manufacturing plant.
- Regular exposure to dust, fibers, chemical/solvent fumes, moving equipment, and plant noise.
- Temperature variations depending on season.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, forklifts, overhead hoists, and measuring equipment.

Compensation: $20.00/hr.
